MY ROLE
Product Designer

Background

Event marketers often grapple with the complexity and unpredictability of planning live events, from managing logistics to curating engaging experiences, which can hinder their ability to produce quality content. Moreover, not all content thrives in a live format; pre-recorded or scripted approaches can be more efficient and less demanding. While Goldcast’s platform exceled at supporting live events, it lacked a streamlined solution for creating pre-recorded content, such as video podcasts or webinars, that meets users’ evolving needs.

Project Highlights

DESIGNING WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK

When conceptualizing the Recording Studio, my goal was to stay within the established event app framework while enhancing it for a seamless recording experience. I focused on optimizing the layout and features specifically for the Recording Studio, leveraging existing design patterns while introducing new elements where necessary. The result was a cohesive interface that felt intuitive to existing users while offering powerful new capabilities.

Seamless End-to-End Workflow

One of the key challenges was to create a smooth, end-to-end workflow that allowed users to create high-quality recordings, edit them, and turn them into AI-driven media assets ready to share across multiple channels. Our guiding principle was to ensure that customers could achieve all of this without leaving the Goldcast ecosystem, making content creation as frictionless as possible.

Prioritizing Features and Collaboration

Working closely with the engineering and product teams, I navigated technical constraints and prioritized features for the initial release. My focus was on balancing ambitious functionality with feasible implementation timelines. By fostering collaboration and proactively addressing cross-dependencies, I helped maintain momentum while ensuring the product met user expectations.

Impact:

The Recording Studio has been a game-changer within Goldcast, with users and internal stakeholders alike praising its functionality and ease of use. One customer even remarked that the Recording Studio, even in its beta stage, was ‘immediately better than Riverside.’ This positive reception reflects the strategic decisions made throughout the design process, from prioritizing user-centered iteration to fostering cross-functional collaboration.
